History
GUILD was originally founded in Los Angeles by Charles Carmona, a gem identification master who has made great achievements in the fields of laboratory certification, gem identification and gemological writing. He was invited by the World Bank to develop gem resources and optimize the upstream industrial chain in gem-producing countries such as Vietnam and Tanzania. Subsequently, GUILD Gem Lab brought industry-leading and intensive gemological training, including industry-leading grading standards, gem origin determination and optimized treatment identification, and brought the industry's latest gemological research results.
Andrew Lucas joins Guilder with over thirty years of global gemstone and jewellery industry research from mine to market, including 28 years of educational research, teaching, field gemological expeditions, global supply chain research for diamond, coloured gemstone, pearl and jewellery industries, literature records, academic articles and gemological laboratory samples collected from gemstone mining areas around the world during his tenure at the American Gemological Laboratory. Andrew Lucas’ teaching focuses on providing real, practical and accurate first-hand information to provide students with the advantages they need to develop in today’s competitive gemstone and jewellery industry. Emphasis is placed on translating theoretical gemological and laboratory gemological research results into industry practice. Demonstrating resource connections, assessments and opportunities in the global gemstone supply chain, teaching students how to use gemstones to create the next industry opportunity, and imparting the gemological knowledge needed to develop in the real gemstone and jewellery industry.
